and also so that their economy is booming and they are buying more cars and using up more gasoline…that raises the world demand for oil so that the americans govt’s constituents…the american people pay $4.00 a gallon for gasoline?
The government isn’t the main cause. WE ARE! We buy everything under the sun made in China. Go to Walmart or Kmart or Sears……all you see is made in China. We want the cheapest cost for the things we want to buy….willing to sacrifice our kids, pets, national security, economic well being. we did this prior to world war 2..Sold everything to Japan. They built up their manufacturing base, flooded our markets and then Pearl Harbor.

Two words: Bill Clinton. He gave China "Most Favored Trading Status", and helped them build up their military by allowing companies like Loral to sell them advanced weapons technology. He has been a hugh boon to China, and they have rewarded him handsomely by paying him tens of millions of dollars.

By treating the Chinese as a valued trading partner, they’ve looked the other way while China has done things that we’d likely not accept from other countries. Too many businesses in the US make money off China, therefore they lobby Congress to give them most favored trading nation status. See how that worked out.

By allowing the business community to call the shots and giving no thought whatsoever to any other consideration than markets.
Not one of these brainiacs ever seemed to give any thought to where the natural resources were going to come from to feed an
additional 2 or 3 billion consumers with all the goods they may want and need, and now we’re finding out, not to mention the military and political ramifications.

Interesting question and conclusion too. I believe the Military Industrial Complex to be complicit in any policy decisions of the United States when it comes to China. We have to remember that when the Cold War ended, we should have cut back on Military Spending and we instead created a new enemy.."The Axis of Evil." and went on to convince Americans that it was in our National Interest to invade Iraq ( which was not a threat, being 6000 miles away from our closest shore, 9000 miles from our furthest shore, had a population of about 30 million compared to our 300 million, had no air force or navy, nor missiles with which to attack us.) but had the oil we would need to maintain sustained military operations against any other adversary equal to the task of opposing our military, ( China, Russia are the most capable of resisting us) and we are not a Defensive Nation, we are an Offensive Nation..We spend more than the combined nations of the world to "Protect" ourselves, even when there is no threat.
When there is no threat, we create one to match our spending on the Military…Interesting !
