France is independent of Mid-East gas/oil, so why can’t we in the Western world with huge oil wells in Texas and here in Canada from Alberta, tap into these resources instead of having to depend so much overseas? It boggles my mind that we need to ship it over, usually with disastrous results from oil spills and accidents! Then we have soaring prices, like now, because the Mid-East has such a monopoly since we are so dependant on their resources. It just sounds like it would be so simple to find and use our own resources instead.
because the Dem’s want gas prices to reach $30 a gallon !!!!!!!!!

There isn’t enough in Texas, as for Canada, they are independent.
America doesn’t even come close to producing enough oil to meets it’s demand.

The liberals in congress have voted down time and time again to pursue oil, coal and nuclear energy to our fullest ability.
Makes you wonder just whose pockets THEY belong to!

Yes, so simple that it only works in theory. If we tapped every oil reserve in the western hemisphere, it wouldn’t amount to a hill of beans compared to our needs. More oil is not the answer. New technology and thinking outside the oil-box are the only solution.

oil production peaked in the US in the 1970’s France is dependent on Russia for much of its oil and gas and has a large nuclear energy source. no large oil fields have been discovered since the north sea field(which is already in decline) the oil in Alaska will only support our fuel requirements for a couple of years at best. if oil is so plentiful and the problem is refineries as some say with the price and profits so high why are more not being built? the answer is not to find and use the last drop of oil and coal on the planet and increase greenhouse emissions but rather to conserve as we wean ourselves off of the stuff and convert to cleaner renewable fuels. best to do now than wait until the point of no return IMHO

France buys a lot of oil from Russia and from Iran.
New oil and gas production is at record levels in the US and even if every single well hit, it still wouldn’t be enough to cover our yearly usage of oil. What amazes me is that with the oil problems the US has, the US is still the 3rd largest oil PRODUCER in the world, the largest user of oil in world, and the largest importer of oil in world. The only way to become less dependent on foreign oil is in finding alternative energy sources for transportation (cars, buses, etc) and for distribution (long haul trucks, etc.)

France imports 1.89 million barrels a day , and it’s largest sources are Norway and Saudi Arabia.
France only produces 73,000 barrels a day. France is small.
France is also considered to be part of the Western world.

We can’t because the "Yellowbellied Taxsucker" is nesting everywhere oil exists in N.America.
The "Yellowbellied Taxsucker" and the "Brainless Treehugger" are OPEC mascots.
Gas gets any higher and they’ll be on the ENDANGERED SPECIES list.
