How deep is the deepest oil well in the world?

I have been searching for a list of the deepest oil wells ever drilled (either in USA or world) and haven’t found any good lists.

I don’t know how deep but the north sea is the place to look…

It’s probably in flux. In terms of beneath the ground or level of the water? North Sea fields are far beneath the ocean but not that deep into the ground. Deep Sea wells are still getting into deeper water.

My guess is about 2 miles underground. I understand oil needs to be a max of 11000 feet underground.

Noxal oil field, The field lies 4,000 m below the sea bottom, which is itself 930 m below sea surface, about 100 km off the coast of Veracruz state, on the east coast of Mexico.
