What are Bushs ties to the oil industry ? Is there a good reason to belive beyond a conspiracy theory?

that he abused his presidency to push oil/gasoline prices, to benefit the oil companies and only the oil companies, with total disregard for the best interest of America and its citizens ?
Plumber rock, they are the lowest in years now that he is in his 2 last months of office and they are still a lot higher than before he took office.

Did you know Bush once owned an oil company? He bought an oil company, but couldn’t find any oil in Texas; the company went bankrupt shortly after he sold all his stock in it.

Conspiracy theories are idiotic. And I don’t see any reason to believe that he tried to push oil and gas prices. However, he has certainly run his administration for the benefit of the oil and coal companies and damn everybody else. It’s a scandal.

He had the ties, he has none now. Your hatred runs deep. What on earth makes you think he has anything to do with the price of gasoline? The prices in our area are the lowest in years…Perhaps we should thank President Bush.

The main thing Bush did to push gas prices up was to enforce stricter environmental regulations, which of course makes gas costlier to produce. But that doesn’t benefit the oil companies; they just pass the cost to us. I guess he oversaw a relatively good economy until Pelosi came into power which means more demand, but other then the tax cuts how much of that was really Bush’s doing anyway, and in any case I’ll take the higher gas prices in that case!

People who believe these conspiracy theories have a very poor grasp of global trade. Oil is sold on world markets and America as a whole, let alone the Prez, has little effect on the price. Peak Oil (which Bush admittedly did little to address) and increased demand in developing economies and decreased supply from increasing nationalization of oil companies (XOM is the 12th or 13th largest oil company in the world, the ones above them are nationalized) all have been the primary drivers of increasing oil prices.

No, I can find none. Some people would rather wallow in their hate for the man and fabricate dubious ties, but it has no basis in reality. I will watch eagerly for someone to post a factual link so I can educate myself to what has been nothing more than hate rants the past years.

The drastic swings in price lend themselves to some kind of insider manipulation, but none that have so much as even a tenuous link to Prez. Bush.

He appointed friends from the oil industry for administration. He also has given tax breaks to oil ocmpanies nd said global warming was not manmade.

Bush is blamed for Pearl Harbor and the collapse of the stock market in 1929. They will find some way to cook up a new conspiracy on oil as well. Loony Kool-Aid drinkers will always hate Bush–that’s what makes them so funny.

Bush refused to do what Clinton did. Release oil from the National Petroleum Reserve to control price spikes. That gave Big Oil a windfall but now people stopped buying cars and it has pushed the country into recession. Bush is responsible for the collapse of the auto industry.

Just about everybody close to Bush is connected to an oil company, mercenary service, or some other company related to the military industry in one way or another.

A conspiracy theory is nothing more than a plan… "conspiracy" means "plan". People see the words conspiracy theory and automatically overlook the information. Some are far fetched, or blatant lies, but you can always tell the lies from the truth.

Of course it’s kind of obvious that Bush did what he did to benefit Corporate America. This war is putting the country trillions of dollars in debt – all of that money is going into private bank accounts (owned by executives who are part of the military industrial complex).

There is only reason to believe he had their best interest as a priority because of his world view. However people overestimate the power of the president to effect the economy, and prices. I do believe that he intended to give Oil companies the rights to Iraqi oil, but that was not successful.
The net effect of the spike in oil prices was not good for the oil companies because it reminded people why it is they should conserve so their profit averaged over time will be less not more because if the spike. It took more than a decade after the price spikes in the 70’s for the consumption oil to return to previous levels.
