NO bailout. The automakers are profitable in Asia, Europe, and Latin America, selling cars that get 65/mpg. They don't have the CAFE standards forced on them by the Democratic Congress in the 1970s that forced them to make cars that NOBODY wanted to buy. They also aren't saddled with outrageous contracts with the monopolistic UAW, which has used the Democratic party as protection. The UAW contracts add $1500 to $2000 to the cost of EVERY American car. Toyota and the other car makers who located in Right-to-Work States in the US are making money producing cars that people WANT, and are not bound by the Democrats' CAFE jerk-around. What does this tell you? If the automakers go into bankruptcy, they can restructure and shed the CAFE and UAW problems. They can become as successful as Toyota is in the US.. They can even be as successful as they are all over the rest of the world. They don't need a bailout. They need to get rid of the stuff the Democrats forced on them. It was BAD business for America. It is not anyone's fault but the industries for getting themselves in this mess and they should go bankrupt if they didn't take care of thigns that should have been taken care of.
