What can we look forward to in the up-coming economic boom?

Our town of 2000 has always been very stable.
Agriculture and a chicken processing plant.
Not great paying, but steady.
Our province has always been a "have not" place.
Now, untold riches have been discovered in our area.
The best potash, oil, and diamonds.
The spring promises big change — 500 new high paying jobs for new people.
The price of houses has already gone up. So have the prices in the grocery stores.

Has your area ever gone through such a change?

Yes they closed most of the coal mines down, disaster!..Then they closed, most of the steel works down, house prices slumped, and then the young ones, left, for greener pastures, like London. But in the last few years they have helped us by bringing building work to the area?, all staffed by ,outsider’s. A brand new large hospital was built in my town, 7 years ago, they have already had talks about closing it some people, including the elderly having to make round trips, up to a Hundred miles!..We now live in a beautiful place, clean, gorgeous surrounding. bot no future for the kids!…

Yes, but our change is in the opposite direction. Don’t disclose your location or you will be inundated with illegal American aliens.

Our town has grown steadily for the last 35 years. It’s not really a boom town, just steady growth.

No, and I love your hat, but your situation reminds me of when I lived in Dahlonega, Georgia, a while and learned that when gold was discovered, those employed were made to pull out their pockets every day at the end of the workday to prove they hadn’t stolen any, a disgusting insult likely caused by one who did. Kinda like the lie detectors of today when cashiers are hired. I wish you strong forbearance in your new situation.

At my age, I may not live long enough to see this "recession" end!

like oceans and waves, things are always changing, some good, some not so good, some just plain bad. we can always hope for the best but economies have been somewhat harsh teachers that we should always be prepared for the worst as well.
since all the world’s business is dependent on an imaginary credit base, we can expect another crash and rise. things won’t really get into a solid black until we do manage to expand to other planets. haha, I know that sounds a bit far out but think about it, we all live on credit and so do our businesses.
I am a bit of a pessimist but its nice to be prepared and still there to truly enjoy the up periods. I hope your economy succeeds for you and for us all, but like the boy scout says, "be prepared".
