Scorched earth….1. he believed it would cover his retreat…2. He wanted to create an environmental disaster 3. He wanted to continue to punish the Kuwatis and the west….
Why did Saddam burn the oil wells during the Gulf War?
How many people agree that we need to open the oil wells in America?
We have both coal and natural gas too.
How stupid can congress be to stop people here from drilling for oil and creating jobs? When have plenty places to dig.
America has to live and we shouldn’t have to depend on other nations for energy when we won’t even support ourselves.
We have all kind of oil in Alaska. Why did they stop the coal mine in West Virginia?
John D? It is intellectually irresponsible to portray lies as fact and use misleading statistics.
Nationbuilder is correctly not taking into account a gargantuine oil field that radical environmentalists and liberal pols will not let the oil companies access. There is enough oil in Alaska alone to make us energy independent for over 30 years. Nationbuilder is also not including the vast offshore areas that the environmentalists and liberal politicians refuse to let the oil companies drill on. There are TRILLIONS of barrels of untapped oil in Alaska, oil shale, the tar sands of NM, UT, AZ, and CO, another huge oild field in of all places Iows that rivals the magnitude ofthe Alaskan oil field, huge reserves of natural gas, etc. We have oil fields in the gulf that are documented. We know they are there and we have a good idea of the billions of barrels they will produce, but we cannot touch them because the gov offshore land lease does not give the oil companies rights to those areas
John D? You, liberal pols, and environmentalists would have us believe that America has no oil and no choice but to either keep sending nearly 800 billion to foreign countries that want to destroy us for our energy needs. That is simply untrue and I challenge any independent thinking conservative to call people like John D to the carpet when they see such moronic, liberal, rhetoric on this site!!!!
It sais in my history book that when oil wells burnt in Kuwait in 1991, it was so hot that sand became glass?
Is that possible? Why would that happen humanly and scientificly? I would like to see pictures of naturally made glass from sand. Can anyone give me any information and/or pictures, please!?
Thanks ya’ll…I’m a curious person so questions like these are asked by people like myself.
Since sand is a crystalline (granulated) form of silicon dioxide, and glass is a cooled down liquid form of silicon dioxide…it would make sense!

I am looking to firnd public records on active oil & gas wells in texas?
I want to know if a certain well is producing and if this is public information where I should go
You might check the Texas Railroad commission web site but it will probably be a real pain. The other solution might be to check with Dwight’s Energy Data or Petroleum Information Services though it may cost you something it is usually up to date within 3 months or so.
are they starting to drll new oil wells in the united states?
Currently there are 1771 drilling rigs working in the US and about another 600 in Canada. The number of rigs varies with season, but overall has remained fairly constant oner the last 20 years or so. It has lots do do with oil and natural gas prices, and investment climate.
Why do people associate oil wells with environmental destruction?
We are currently drilling for oil in Beverly Hills, CA yet there are tens of thousands of people that live there. If drilling for oil causes such destruction, how could this be?

Because they are ignorant and don’t understand modern drilling techniques.

Did you hear the Maverick say that Fish like oil wells?
Now That’s a great reason to drill!
To Moiko: Don’t act like it is stupid to say fish like the oil platforms, they actually do, if you have ever been offshore fishing around one you would know that there is great fishing there.
To the Asker: This is an absurd reason for drilling offshore for oil, but this question has no place in the fish section, you need to go in the politics section and discuss this there.
